Vonnie lived for 69 years and six months and was being cared for at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, Minnesota at the time of her death. Vonnie was born April 28, 1940 in Osceola, WI. We, as an entire family, traveled to Abbott Northwestern Hospital early (4 a.m.) the next morning, and there is no way to describe the feelings of seeing two of my loved ones waiting in adjoining pre-surgery rooms for this life-changing surgery. The family called 911 and he was taken to St. Joseph's Medical Center, then airlifted to North Memorial Medical Center and then sent by ambulance to Abbott Northwestern Hospital, which is connected to Children's Hospital where he is currently hospitalized. Since the bleeding stopped on the flight to Minneapolis, doctors decided to put him in intensive care instead of operating on the bleed. (Brainerd Daily Dispatch)

Abbott Northwestern Hospital, which delivers more babies than any other in Minnesota - 4,200 last year-plans to renovate its maternity facility this year. No. 2 Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park has no plans to renovate, but recently created five hotel-like suites for women on bed rest and will start offering spa services next month.
